American Cancer Society (ACS)

The ACS is the nationwide community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer through research, education, advocacy, and service. With more than two million volunteers nationwide, the American Cancer Society is one of the oldest and largest voluntary health agencies in the United States.

Cancer Prevention & Control Research Network (CPCRN)

The CPCRN provides an infrastructure for applying relevant research to local cancer prevention and control needs.  Its members conduct community-based participatory cancer research across its eight network centers, crossing academic affiliations and geographic boundaries.

Minority Awareness Action Team

The NC Minority Prostate Cancer Awareness Action Team, the "Action Team," provides targeted outreach for minority men who are at the greatest risk of developing prostate cancer. The Action Team is comprised of volunteer professionals and community leaders with a deep commitment to service. These individuals work in partnership with churches, Greek-letter organizations and others to disseminate information about prostate cancer, in an effort to increase the number of Black men screened annually and receiving treatment for prostate cancer during its early and potentially curable stages.
